Ratings (1-10): video: 7 / audio: 4 / additional content: 0 / overall: 6.

This early DVD collection is OK but has been surpassed by improved home video editions of all of the films.

All of the films on this disc are accompanied by a compilation of prerecorded Mozart orchestral recordings. No effort has been made to synchronize the recordings which randomly play through the film.

For our comparative reviews of the individual films in this collection, see our The Kid on home video, The Joyless Street on home video and The Extra Girl on home video pages.

It is odd to have two well-known comedies on a collection entitled Drama Classics, but we’ll take them as they come for this modest cost. The excellent prints utilized for The Kid and The Extra Girl make this disc a bargain, and the print of The Joyless Street was passable until Edition Filmmuseum released an excellent PAL edition.
